TAIPEI -- The sixth cross-Strait film exhibition opened on Saturday night in Taipei, and it will be the first time for the exhibition to go to Tainan and Kaohsiung for display during the six-day exhibition in Taiwan.

A total of seven mainland-made films will be screened including "Beijing Love Story" which has been displayed on the opening ceremony, as well as "Dad, Where Are We Going," "Ex," "Police Diary," "Up in the Wind," "Forever Young" and "Dancing in the Room."

Li Hsiung, a renowned Taiwanese film director and head of the cross-Strait film exchange committee, said that Taiwan film goers have showed growing interests in mainland films since the first cross-Strait film exhibition was held in 2009.

From June 13 to 19, the exhibition will also show Taiwan films in three mainland cities: Xiamen, Taizhou and Xinghua.

Zhang Pimin, president of the China Film Foundation, said that the exhibition has bridged young film directors from both sides. He expressed his hope for raising more funds to further promote communication across the Strait among young directors and scriptwriters.
