7 World Heritage Sites of Shaanxi

This photo taken on June 26 shows the Big Wild Goose Pagoda in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi province. Built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty (618-907), the pagoda is a masterpiece of China's Buddhist architecture. It was inscribed on the World Heritage list on June 22, as a site of the ancient Silk Road. UNESCO designated a 5,000 km stretch of the Silk Road network from Central China to Central Asia as a new World Heritage Site. The corridor spans China, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and includes 33 new sites and several previously designated heritage sites. [Photo/Xinhua]
