"Interstellar" continues to orbit the top box office spots, hitting number one both in China and abroad.
Opening last Wednesday on the mainland, director Christopher Nolan's space epic has grossed $42 million in China over the past five days.
The film has earned Nolan his biggest mainland bow. Its showings in China also helped the film blast off to the top spot in the global box office.
As to date, the film has earned $224 million internationally.
However, stateside, it couldn't break the atmosphere against the long-awaited comedy sequel, "Dumb and Dumber To."
The sequel to the 1994 hit movie, "Dumber To" managed to outdo both "Interstellar" and last week's US box office topper, "Big Hero 6", earning $38 million over its opening weekend.
The film sees actors Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels reprise their roles as the dimwitted duo of Harry and Lloyed for another misadventure.
