Andy Lau and Chow Yun-fat — the iconic stars of Hong Kong cinema — will reprise their 1989 roles in the hit action comedy God of Gamblers in the upcoming film The Man from Macau III.

The actors' reunion after 26 years highlights the stellar cast, which also has Hong Kong stars Nick Cheung, Jacky Cheung, Carina Lau and mainland singer-actress Li Yuchun.

The third sequel is about an adventure of the lead role, a world-renowned gambler played by Chow.

There will be lots of special effects and comedy in the latest movie, says the director, Wong Jing.

Encouraged by the box office performance of the previous two films — 524 million yuan ($83.17 million) in 2013 and 974 million yuan in 2014 — Wong believes the third film will surpass 2 billion yuan.

The movie is to be released across the country on Feb 8, the first day of Chinese Lunar New Year.
