The upcoming Shanghai International Film Festival will feature some new directorial works by renowned Japanese filmmakers, including Yoji Yamada, Hirokazu Koreeda and Shion Sono.

The themes vary from comedy, features to horror and science fiction.

Besides the Japanese flavor, audiences will also be able to have a first view of Oscar-nominated films this year.

Some of the films may not be screened generally in China due to the regulation on imported films.

This year's festival also set up a Classic 007 Films Screening programme and a Jackie Chan Action Movie Week.

The organizing committee has also revealed the judging panel of the Asian New Talent Award.

Hong Kong director Yee Tung-Shing will head the jury, along with South Korean filmmaker Jonathan Kim, Japanese director Koji Fukada, as well as director Zhang Meng and actor Jiang Yiyan from the Chinese mainland.

Founded in 1993, the 19th Shanghai International Film Festival will build on its collaboration with the Tokyo International Film Festival and Busan International Film Festival.

It will run from June 11 to the 19.
