The Imperial Palace School opens in Xi'an

The inauguration ceremony of the Imperial Palace School was held at the Northwest University in Xi'an, Shaanxi province, on May 21. Jointly founded by the Palace Museum and Northwest University in Xi'an, the school will be devoted to cultivating talent in the field of culture and museum and spreading the idea of cultural heritage protection. Shaanxi province Vice Governor Zhuang Changxing attended the ceremony.

Shan Jixiang, director of the Palace Museum, briefly introduced both the current situation and the future development of the Palace Museum. He also said he highly appreciated Northwest University's effort in historic preservation.

After the ceremony, Shan Jixiang gave a lecture, The World of the Imperial Palace, the Imperial Palace of the World, to the students, which was also the first lecture delivered on the school’s "Imperial Palace Rostrum".

The Imperial Palace School was first established in Beijing in 2013. Other branches are in Suzhou and Jingdezhen.
