Action movie 'Suicide Squad' tops North American box office for second weekend

"Sausage Party" was written by Seth Rogen and starring the voices of Rogen and Kristen Wiig. It is about talking food products in a supermarket who hatch a plan to avoid being eaten by the human customers. The film got an impressive 82 percent of approval rate on RottenTomatoes and a "B" rating score from the audience.

Disney's "Pete's Dragon," a remake of the 1977 classic film, placed in third in its first weekend of release with 21.5 million dollars. It earned an "A" from first-night moviegoers on CinemaScore and an 85 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Families composed to 66 percent of its audience.

"Jason Bourne" was fourth with 13.6 million dollars, while "Bad Moms" was fifth with 11.4 million dollars. Both of those films were in their third weekend of release.

Rounding out the rest top 10 films this weekend were "The Secret Life of Pets" ($8.8 million), "Star Trek Beyond" (6.8 million), "Florence Foster Jenkins" (6.5 million), "Nine Lives" (3.5 million) and "Lights Out" (3.2 million).
