The China Music Industry Alliance was launched in Beijing at the Fourth China Music Industry Conference, which was held from Dec 15 to 18.

The alliance was launched by the National Music Industry Base with more than 10 music labels and internet companies, including Baidu Music, a Chinese music streaming service by Baidu, NetEase Cloud Music, a music streaming and downloading app and Music LeTV, one of the biggest music live-broadcasting platforms in the country.

The alliance aims to help the Chinese music industry fight piracy and support local singer-songwriters.

According to Tang Yueming, the director of the National Music Industry Base, a national level organization promoting the Chinese music industry, it took nearly two years to get the alliance off the ground.

"We want to gather influential companies and build a healthy environment for the Chinese music market," says Tang, adding that the alliance will target new members.

The Fourth China Music Industry Conference, which was organized by the National Music Industry Base, had more than 10 forums, which saw more participation by more than 100 experts and musicians.
