Coming home

Her songs may be more famous than her name. After a decade of pursuing a musical dream, Ding Dang - born Wu Xian in Zhejiang province - has become a successful on the mainland after developing her singing career in Taiwan. She left home at the age of 17 to seek opportunities as a singer with bands in small bars. She was given a professional contract by Taiwan's Rock Records in 2003. With five albums and a number of chart-topping songs, the 30-year-old has sold out concerts in Taiwan and Hong Kong, and will perform in Beijing for the first time.
