Poetic dance, splendid stage and gorgeous costumes help bring the touching love story in dance drama Goddess and the Dreamer, to life. Scheduled to be staged in Guangzhou this weekend, it is an acclaimed production of Zhengzhou Song & Dance Theater from Henan province. The choreography focuses on the soft, floating movement of classical Chinese dance. The ancient costumes and the stage decorated with traditional Chinese brick walls will take the audience back in time to the Three Kingdoms (AD 220-280) period.

Capturing a moment in time

Spending their time capturing fleeting moments, photographers tend to have unique perspectives on the nature of time. This art event gives 13 photographers from home and abroad the chance to give their answer to the question "What is time?" Hei Ming is a Chinese photographer known for his documentary photography. From 2004 to 2009, Hei collected old photos of 300 people from all over the country who had their picture taken in front of Tian'anmen Square a long time before. Hei took a modern version for them and presents the two photos juxtaposed. At the Guangzhou exhibition, Hei shows part of this series of photos, titled Memories of Tian'anmen Square.

Wang Feng rocks

Wang Feng, one of China's most famous rock musicians, will conquer the stage in Guangzhou this Saturday. American sound engineer Phil Nicolo will join the Guangzhou concert's production team. Nicolo used to work with Bon Jovi, The Police and is a Grammy judge. Wang has been on a concert tour to 15 cities since April.

'Life Is Art' talk

The branch of the inspiring TED, a global set of conferences under the slogan "ideas worth spreading", at Guangdong University of Foreign Studies will invite six guests to share their interpretations of "Life is Art" at a seminar in Guangzhou this Sunday. The speakers hail from all walks of life. Feng Feng, professor from Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, will take the lead to share his experience crossing over from contemporary art to fiction writing.

US soprano sings the classics

The dulcet tones of US soprano Renee Fleming will be heard in Beijing and Guangzhou. Fleming, who is known for her lyrical voice and clean high notes, is acclaimed as one of the best as Countess Almaviva in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro. The opera singer will display her expertise in a realistic opera at her recital concerts in China by singing the famous O Mio Babbino Caro from Puccini's Gianni Schicchi.
