KWM Art Center, a new art gallery in the heart of Beijing's Guomao district, is presenting an inaugural exhibition, Somewhere Only We Know, through Dec 8.

Opened on Oct 20, the exhibition shows some 30 artworks, including paintings, sculptures, installations and videos, whose creators found inspiration in Tao Hua Yuan Ji, or The Story of Peach Blossom Spring, a fable by the poet Tao Yuanming (circa. 365 - 427).

In their works, young artists respond with the central idea of Tao's composition: how people can achieve inner peace and harmony with nature.

Artists also staged a performance at the opening, at the lobby of the World Financial Center where the art center is located, in which they explored the existence of Taohuanyuan and its revelation to people today.

The exhibition is curated by Qiu Zhijie, artist and director of the Central Academy of Fine Arts' experimental art department, and Zhang Ziqian, a sound artist in Beijing.

Funded by the Asian law firm King & Wood Mallesons, which has an office in Beijing, the art center promotes contemporary Chinese art by supporting artists and engaging art with people's life.
