4. From Monet to Soulages
The evolution of modern Western painting is showcased at the exhibition. On show are dozens of paintings that exemplify artistic movements beginning from the early 19th century to the 1980s. The featured styles comprise realism, impressionism, symbolism, cubism and surrealism. The paintings are from the collection of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Saint-Etienne Metropole. The exhibition is a highlight of this year's Festival Croisements, a Sino-French exchange event.
