UNIQUE joins forces with China’s SANY Group to import high-caliber machinery for the Construction of the Mass Transit System Project in Bangkok (Red Line) (I), Bang Sue-Rangsit Section

On May 30, the Beverly Hills I-III, 2nd Floor, Conrad Bangkok Hotel, Mr. Prapat Chongsanguan, Governor of the State Railway of Thailand (SRT), presided over the signing ceremony for a purchase agreement of machinery between Unique Engineering and Construction Public Co., Ltd. and SANY Group Co., Ltd. The contract was signed by Mr. Natee Panichewa, Chairman, and Mr. Kaned Suviwattanachai, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of Unique Engineering and Construction Public Co., Ltd. (UNIQUE), and Mr. Xie Feng, Vice President, SANY Group Co., Ltd. (SANY) of China and CEO, SANY Asia-Pacific BU.

SANY is the No. 5 ranked globally and the No. 1 ranked in China manufacturer of Construction machinery. Imports worth 2.5 billion baht will help expedite the construction of the Mass Transit System Project in Bangkok (Red Line) (I), Bang Sue-Rangsit Section.

The SRT has granted UNIQUE, one of the major contractors in Contract 1 of the construction of the Mass Transit System Project in Bangkok (Red Line) (I), Bang Sue-Rangsit Section. The contract has an approximate budget of 30 billion baht. It will cover civil works for the Bang Sue Grand Station and depots, the construction of the Bang Sue Grand Station, Chatuchak Station and building, an elevated railway structure at 6+000 km. to 12+201 km., as well as maintenance depots for commuter train, long-distant train and stabling yards. Currently, the four-year plan for the construction of the Bang Sue Grand Station and the depots is on the agenda.

The Project is an essential link for the entire transport networks as the Bang Sue Grand Station is designed to be the major interchange for all forms of rail-based transportation including electric commuter train, long-distant commuter train, and hi-speed train. In addition, the adjustment of the project has been planned to further development to reach Pathum Thani’s Rangsit District, which is an important suburban area north to Bangkok. The Bang Sue – Rangsit Section is expected to serve 300,000 commuter trip / day and help ease congested traffic at eight intersections where at-grade railways meet condensed roads. Furthermore, automobile accidents-related to railways are expected to be down to zero, the uses of private cars are to be significantly lower, hence, the consumption of fuel, while the environment is improved.
