A farmer in Rucheng county found 10 IOUs for grain issued by the People's Liberation Army 64 years ago and was paid 66,000 yuan ($10,694) with interest by the local government, Xiaoxiang Morning News reported on Thursday. Tan Chunliang inherited the IOUs from his grandfather in 2002. They were made by the PLA when it borrowed 3,500 kilograms of rice and flour between February and July 1950. On July 29, Tan got the money from the local government and said he would donate it for village school and road construction.
