The result of the "national first batch of five star volunteers" rating, launched by the Ministry of Civil Affairs, was recently announced, and four applicants in Hunan province were selected, including three volunteers from Changsha – Fu Qiang, Chen Xu, and Kang Yongzhou.

Fu Qiang, a young fellow from the city of Changsha, is the founder of the Hunan Charitable Alliance, the president of Hunan Council of Outstanding Workers, and one of the first "Prominent Volunteers" in Hunan. People genially call him "A Si".

Since 2001, Fu Qiang has played an active role in local public service activities. He and his charitable group have provided direct help for more than 8, 000 impoverished people in areas such as Xiangxi, Loudi, Ningxiang, Anhua, Pingjiang, and Yanling. They organized volunteer teachers to mountainous areas and awarded grants-in-aid to needy students. So far their services have covered tens of thousands of needy students and left-behind children.

"Clouds flowing in the sky", the network name of Chen Xu, a 42-year-old single mother dedicated to philanthropy, is well-known among the volunteers in Hunan province. She holds several important positions in public welfare organizations and travels a lot for the charity work. Her blood donations have reached 6,600 ml so far. Her love is shared by her only daughter and the children in disaster-struck areas and mountainous areas.

Kang Yongzhou, whose other name is Kang Xiong, is a veteran. He applied himself to helping people in the Wenchuan Earthquake of 2008, the Yushu Earthquake in 2010, the Zhouqu Mudslide in 2010, and Yueyang Flood in 2011.

In 2010, he united with people keen on philanthropy from all walks of life and charitable organizations in over 10 universities and established a public services alliance under the name of Da Ai Wu Jiang (literally meaning Love is Boundless), which organizes volunteer activities under the guidance of the Changsha municipal Youth League Committee.
