The winter water conservancy construction works in Changsha county, Hunan province are proceeding at a pace and 40 percent has been completed so far. The local water conservancy department recently dispatched seven teams to conduct specific inspections on the quality, progress, safety and coordination of the projects in towns across the county.

The county plans to de-silt 5,570 mu (371.33 hectares) of hilly ponds, with 2,180 mu under construction. It has also started on 1,032 out of a total of 1,267 government-subsidized private projects.

In addition, all the preliminary works of the key projects are now under way. In Chunhua town, villagers gathered at an irrigation meeting to share experiences.

To learn more about water conservancy, Gao qiao town and Qingshanpu town conducted a comprehensive investigation into the irrigation projects throughout their towns.

Guoyuan town organized an open-to-the-public project selection, to ensure the fairness of the project arrangements, and Baisha town adopted ecological measures on the irrigation construction.

Lukou town, Kaihui town and Guoyuan town all set up inspection teams, which were formed by the towns' discipline inspection commission, farmers' office and water service office, to conduct a regular inspection jointly on their projects.
