Changsha's municipal Party committee and government recently examined and approved the city's bid plan for the 12th China International Garden Expo, which will be held in 2020.
The bid work is divided into four phases: site selection for the expo, overall planning of the expo, specific exhibition designs and the specific bidding matters. A special lead group has been founded in Changsha to ensure the smooth development of the bid work.
The China International Garden Expo is a high-level garden and flowers event initiated in 1997. It is co-hosted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development and the government of the host city every two years.
Under the concept of "a never-ending garden expo" put forward at the 2014 Shenzhen Garden Expo, a permanent outdoor exhibition park will be built in the host city and become one of its scenic spots.
So far nine sessions of the Garden Expo have been successfully held in the cities of Dalian, Nanjing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Jinan, Chongqing, and Beijing.
The 10th Garden Expo will be held this September in Wuhan and the 11th in Zhengzhou two years later.
