The State Forestry Administration recently said 'yes' to the acceptance work of Qianlong Lake in Changsha, Hunan province as a national wetland park, Changsha Evening News reported.

The Qianlong Lake Wetland Park is located in Getang town, Wangcheng district. It boasts various wetland types in an area of 9.2 square kilometers, including a lake, reservoir, streams, canals, and rice fields.

There are more than 400 types of plants, 46 varieties of fish, and 126 kinds of birds in the park, forming a rich local ecosystem.

Together with another 19 wetlands, such as Taiyang Island in Harbin, Qianlong Lake was listed as one of the pilot national wetland parks in November, 2008, with a trial period of five years.

Over the past years, local government launched a series of measures to promote the construction of the Qianlong Lake area, covering the establishment of the park administrative office and a wetland monitoring station, bird monitoring and protection, publicity of knowledge about wetlands and their protection, and development of eco-tourism in the area.

A principal of the wetland park said that they will stick to the protective construction philosophy, and bring the ecological functions of the wetland into full play.
