Changsha city in Hunan province was China's Happiest Provincial Capital in 2014, according to a nationwide survey by CCTV.
Xia Jianping, vice mayor of Changsha, received the trophy on behalf of the city on Jan 27, after "China's Economic Life Survey", the country's largest national media and public survey released by CCTV (China Central Television) ranked it a top city for its residents' happiness.
Central China city of Changsha reaped the title together with four other capital cities, including Hefei in Anhui province, Taiyuan in Shanxi province, Haikou in Hainan province, and Shijiazhuang in Hebei province
"The China's Economic Life Survey", sponsored by CCTV, the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Post Group Corporation, surveyed local residents of a given city to measure their overall sense of satisfaction, sense of belonging, life quality, natural environment, economy and social manners.
In 2014, Changsha made important strides on the way of becoming a city with clean, green, and beautiful environment, unhindered transportation, and civilized manners.
It boasted 227 days of fine air quality for the past year, 30 days more than the previous year..
Its residents' satisfaction degree on health care, culture and sports leaped to top three nationwide, and the satisfaction degree on elementary education ranked the fourth.
