Changsha city's electronic commerce transaction amounted to 255 billion yuan ($40.83 billion) in 2014, a year-on-year increase of 70 percent, according to the sixth Changsha e-commerce annual conference held on Feb 1.
To further increase e-commerce revenues in 2015, the city will initiate further improvements in four areas allocated for the industry – the Changsha National High-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Changsha National Economic and Technical Development Zone, Jinxia Economic Development Zone, and Yuhua Modern E-commerce Industrial Park.
It also plans to support the construction of public service platforms in the said zones and encourage large e-commerce enterprises from both home and abroad to launch branches, regional headquarters and operating centers.
The capital city of Hunan province had also been named a "model city of e-commerce" in 2014.
