The Changsha-Guiyang section of the Shanghai-Kunming (Hu-Kun) high-speed rail is expected to open by the end of June.
The new high-speed rail service will cut travel time from Changsha to Guiyang, the capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province, by 10 hours, reducing it to only about two hours from 12 at present.
So far, the main construction work along this section of the railway has been completed. The relevant railway authority will run test services this month to ensure speed upgrade and signaling. This will be followed by one-month-long trial operations, Changsha Evening News reported citing the Guizhou section project department of the Hu-Kun high-speed rail.
The Changsha-Guiyang section high-speed rail runs more than 700 km and will go into service by the end of June.
The final part of the Hu-Kun rail line, namely the Guiyang-Kunming section, is expected to open in 2016.
