According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), China has experienced a recurrence of outbreaks of the highly pathogenic H5N1 avian influenza in poultry in mid-October this year.

Cui also said that Wen's official visit to Malaysia after his attendance at the summits was part of China's significant diplomatic move with neighbouring countries.

"Premier Wen's visit to Malaysia is of great significance to further deepening China-Malaysia good neighbourly and friendly cooperation and pushing forward the good momentum of the China-Asean strategic partnership," he said.

Cui said Wen would make a courtesy call on the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Syed Putra Jamalullail, and have talks with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.

"He will comprehensively elaborate on China's proposal to deepen bilateral strategic cooperation and exchange views on China-Asean relations and East Asian cooperation," he said.
