C-section epidemic hits China

Nearly one in 2 births in China is delivered by Cesarean section, a quarter of which are not medically necessary, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). Its survey showed China's C-section rate is 46%, the world's highest. Unnecessary C-sections jeopardize women's health by raising the risk of complications, the WHO warned. Babies born through C-section are more likely to develop respiratory problems.
