The pair appear on the front of the magazine in a shot that features Roberts as a wood nymph with a leafy crown and Clooney wearing a smart dark green suit.

Former US Vice President Al Gore and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. also appear on the cover of the magazine's first "green issue."

Clooney's efforts to raise environmental awareness and inspire activism are profiled, along with the work of other stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bette Midler and Edward Norton.

The driving force behind the politically minded "Good Night, And Good Luck" and "Syriana" highlighted his work with the organization Oil Change, which teaches consumers about alternative energy.

He also underlined his commitment by trading in his BMW for an eco-friendly Tango, which features in the photo spread inside the new Vanity Fair.

The first Green Issue of Vanity Fair will hit newsstands on April 11th.
