Carey, Sean "Diddy" Combs, Robert Altman and Jamie Foxx lead an eclectic mix of show business figures due to receive the ultimate recognition of celebrity - a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

The 23 recipients for 2007 also include film stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Michael Caine, Matt Damon and Jamie Foxx; television presenter Barbara Walters and actor Erik Estrada; the 1960s rock group The Doors and screen and stage actress Lilly Tomlin.

"It's a great privilege to honour these performers, and I'm sure their fans and supporters will enjoy attending the induction ceremonies on Hollywood Boulevard," said Walk of Fame Chairman Johnny Grant.

The Walk of Fame remains one of the main tourist attractions of Los Angeles, where the bronze stars line Hollywood Avenue in the city's northwest.

Created in 1960, the Walk of Fame now has more than 2,300 stars.

Gene Autry (1907-1998) holds the record for five stars, one in each category of motion pictures, television, recording, live theatre and performance, and radio.
