Jessica Alba winks at thriller "The Eye" remake

Jessica Alba is in talks to star in the US remake of the Hong Kong horror thriller 'The Eye'.

The original Hong Kong horror film was directed by the Pang brothers and told of a blind woman who receives an eye transplant and finds that she has inherited the ability to see the dead.

The remake is due to begin shooting this winter.

Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner picked up the rights to the film in 2002 and Renee Zellweger was to have starred but when she dropped out, the studio decided to pass on the project.

Lionsgate recently picked up the rights from Paramount. The studio is also in talks with French helmers David Moreau and Xavier Palud to direct the feature.
