Eagles planning first record since '79

Aging rockers The Eagles are at work on their first album of new material in nearly three decades.

Billboard reports that guitarist Joe Walsh has confirmed that the band is working towards a 2007 release for the record.

"I would say the first half of next year we should be able to put out a new Eagles album," he said."It'll be nice to have some new songs to play,'cause we're sick of the old ones."

Their last studio album,"The Long Run," was released way back in 1979.

Fans got a taste of new Eagles material last year when they put out the concert DVD "Farewell 1 Tour-- Live from Melbourne."Walsh's song"One Day at a Time" and Glenn Frey's track"No More Cloudy Days"were played in the set.

Walsh also said that a European tour earlier this summer helped motivate the band to expand on some basic tracks they had already recorded.

"We decided we better get some new product out, some new songs," he said."We could rest on our laurels and play our catalog forever, but we're not a nostalgia band. We've got another record in us."
