Leith, Beyonce top charts

The new year has yet to deliver new chart leaders, with Australian Idol Damien Leith and Beyonce holding their top spots for the second week running.

Leith's album The Winners Journey has now spent five weeks at number one and eclipsed the four weeks inaugural Idol winner Guy Sebastian enjoyed at the top of the tree in 2003.

There was movement elsewhere on the chart, with Billy Birmingham's latest 12th Man offering Boned! falling one place to third, and last week's number three, U218 Singles dropping to fifth position.

Irish rockers Snow Patrol moved up two spots with Eyes Open to second, while Wolfmother and Justin Timberlake both enjoyed jumps to eight and 10 respectively, despite lengthy spells in the charts.

In the singles, Dreamgirls star Beyonce spent her second week at number one, ahead of Akon's Smack That and Evermore's Light Surrounding You, which enjoyed a jump of five spots up to three.

Bob Sinclar was another bullet performer, rising four spots to seven with Rock This Party, while Fergie's Fergalicious shot up five positions to sixth.

Shannon Noll and Natalie Bassingthwaighte's Don't Give Up fell from fourth to ninth.

Meanwhile, Keith Urban's new album, Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing has fallen from top position after nine weeks in the country chart.

It has slumped to third, behind the Dixie Chicks, who resumed the top spot taken by Urban in November.

To rub salt in the wound, Urban has even upstaged himself, with his previous album, Be Here, finishing ahead of Love, Pain at second spot, despite being released more than two years ago.

Stalwarts John Williamson and Johnny Cash feature in the next five spots.

Jerry Lee Lewis' comedic Last Man Standing has fallen two spots to ninth, while Alan Jackson's Like Red On A Rose has re-entered the top ten in the last spot.
