Penelope Cruz and Pedro Almodovar set to re-team once again

Oscar nominee Penelope Cruz is teaming up with her 'Volver' director Pedro Almodovar for his next film.

The film, La Piel Que Habito, is based on French author Thierry Jonquet's 1995 novel 'Mygale' in which he tells the story of a plastic surgeon who exacts hideous revenge on his daughter's rapist.

Almodovar's producer brother Agustin revealed that Cruz would be playing a far ‘darker’ role than that of her Volver character, whose portrayal has earned her an Oscar nomination in the Best Actress category.

Agustin added that the movie was almost sure to be his Oscar winning sibling's next project.

"The role is far darker. It's 70 to 80 per cent to be Pedro's next (project). But Pedro always worked on several ideas at the same time, and he has a second screenplay on the go as well," he said.

Volver reigned supreme at the Goya Awards, Spain's equivalent of the Oscars, in Madrid on Sunday, 28 Jan, when it picked up the Best Picture Award, as well as the Best Actress Award for Cruz.
