Tom Jones avoids dry air

Tom Jones takes a humidifier everywhere he goes.

The Welsh singer never travels without a range of gadgets to protect his voice from 'dry air'.

He told Britain's Hello! magazine: 'I don't have to do any vocal exercises, but I drink plenty of water and I make sure the bedroom is humid.

'The worst thing for you is dry air, so I travel with a humidifier and a gauge to ensure it's not too dry.'

The 'Give a Little Love' singer - who turns 69 this year - wants to preserve his vocal chords so he can continue to perform duets with young artists.

He said: 'I'd love to work with Duffy if the song is right - she has a unique sound. Perhaps we can write something together or maybe she has something she would like to do.

'It keeps me youthful working with young artists and producers because you need young ears if you want to make records today.'

Although Tom is desperate to keep his voice sounding young, he has finally embraced his grey hair.

He added: 'It was no big style makeover to stop dyeing my hair. Every Christmas and New Year I would take a month to five weeks off and I wouldn't dye my hair in that time.

'Then this year, it was whiter than it used to be, so I went to Las Vegas for my first engagements in January, leaving it as it was. People in the audience were shouting, 'We love the hair Tom! You look great'. So I thought, 'That's it!' Plus my wife Linda likes it too.'
