Netherlands tops world in food quality
The Netherlands is the number one place in the world when it comes to food quality and eating, an international study showed Wednesday.
In the Good Enough to Eat Index, where the food situation in 125 countries was compared by the global non-profit organization Oxfam, the Netherlands scored highest for lack of malnutrition and undernourishment and for access to safe water.
The Netherlands also made top place thanks to the relatively low food prices and diabetes levels, and better nutritional diversity than its European rivals, the report noted.
However, the country scored poorly on obesity. Almost one in five of its population (19 percent) has a body mass index of more than 30.
