A prison has withdrawn a raffle prize which offered its inmates a day out.
The governor of HMP Kirkham in Lancashire has claimed that he was unaware of the prize, BBC News reports.
Prisoners can enter the raffle for £1 if they help make Christmas lunch for elderly people at a local day centre.
Prison bosses refused to say who had offered the 'single town visit' as a prize, but added that the raffle is designed to encourage good behaviour.
"The governor will consider an appropriate prize for the draw in due course," a Prison Service spokesman said. "He was not aware that a town visit was being offered as a prize and it has been withdrawn."
