Artist Cai Guoqiang created a conceptual pyrotechnic art display, titled One Night Stand, made on commission by Nuit Blanche, an all-night citywide contemporary art event, organized every year by the city of Paris, on the first weekend of October.
The explosive work occurred on the evening of October 5, along the Seine River between the Louvre and Musee d'Orsay.
Cai offered a work that was both a unique romantic experience and a masterful ode to love in the heart of Paris. The first part was a heated 12-minute pyrotechnic display, in which fireworks were used to express love and its metaphorical eruptions.
For the second part, a sightseeing boat equipped with 50 tents hosted 100 lovers from around the world to spend a luminous and romantic evening sailing along the Seine. For the conclusion, an almost one-minute elegant blazing display of silver fireworks were ignited, representing a tacit "goodbye kiss".[Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]
