SHANGHAI

Wine month

The annual Shanghai Wine Festival returns for a third consecutive year with a bustling bazaar, where you can choose from samples of hundreds of wine "like picking vegetables and fruits in China's local wet market", as the organizer puts it. Occupying the entire basement of the shopping mall Crystal Galleria, the 40-day-long wine fair features vintages from a score of wine importers in China, with offerings varying from Old World to New World, sparkling to pink, and luxurious Lafite to affordable table wines. Tickets at the fair are 60 yuan ($9.40). It is 40 yuan if purchased online, including a free wine glass and the chance to try a maximum of 20 different types of wine. Find tipples you like and you can buy bottles at retail prices.

10 am-10 pm, daily through Sept 30. LG1, Crystal Galleria, 68 Changde Road, Jing'an district.
