Wenjiang Confucius Temple was originally built in the Song Dynasty (960-1279) and was rebuilt in the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).
In modern times, a great deal of effort has been put into keeping Wenjiang Confucius Temple’s historical appearance. Surrounded by modern buildings, the majestically standing temple is filled with rich cultural atmosphere.
Stepping into the temple, you will first see the vermeil Wanren Walls. Wanren signifies the profoundness of Confucius’s knowledge and thoughts.
All gates in Confucius temples are called Lingxing Gate. Dacheng Hall is the main architecture of the temple. It is grand, solemn and magnificent. In both Ming and Qing dynasties, Confucius temples were established according to regulations in royal court and local states.
Worshipping was organized at regular intervals, thus making Confucius temples the loftiest place to learn in ancient culture. Wandering in the Confucius temple, visitors can not only see the greatest school from ancient times, but also feel the profoundness of Confucian culture.
