Eat free Laba porridge in Chengdu Wenshu Monastery

The Wenshu Monastery in Chengdu gave out 50,000 bowls of Laba porridge from Jan 27 to Jan 29 to celebrate the Laba Festival.
The Laba porridge in Wenshu Monastery is made from rice, beans, dried fruit, carrot, white radish, lotus seeds and nuts. It is popular among Chengdu residents because of its delicious taste and rich ingredients.

Special bowls with a papercutting of the Chinese character “福”(“fu”, meaning happiness) were offered to people in the monastery.
Laba Festival is the eighth day of the 12th lunar month and it fell on Jan 27 this year. People eat Laba porridge on that day, hoping that it may bring them good luck and health.
