Customers can now pay for their shopping bills via WeChat Payment on smartphones in all the Hongqi supermarkets in Wenjiang district in Chengdu, Sichuan province, according to Wenjiang bureau of commerce.
To make payment via it, shoppers need to select the “Wallet-Quick Pay” function on WeChat Payment platform to generate a bar code and a QR code. The clerk only needs to scan either code to accept the payment.
The cooperation between WeChat Payment and Hongqi supermarkets allows customers to make payments at ease in a convenient way. Moreover, the large number of WeChat Payment users will result in more customers for the supermarket chain, the director of Hongqi supermarkets said.
To attract more WeChat users, all 108 Hongqi supermarket branches will launch a sales campaign on June 30, under which customers will be offered various amounts of cashbacks upon each purchase made via WeChat Payment.
WeChat Payment is a mobile payment solution developed by Tencent company, China’s largest Internet service portal. It allows customers to purchase items or receive various services on its platform.
