Chengdu supports emerging high-tech industry

Statistics from the Chengdu’s bureau of science show that the high-tech industry in Sichuan’s Chengdu city has developed rapidly in the first half of 2015.
Some 5,660 new scientific and technological enterprises started operations in Chengdu in the first six months of this year, a 48.5 percent increase over the same period last year.
The output value of the high-tech industry in the city in the H1 has reached 371.7 billion yuan ($59.8 billion), seeing a year-on-year increase of 14 percent.
In particular, the number of patent applications has climbed to 26,674, reflecting the city’s improved innovation ability and sense of intellectual property protection.
In the first half of the year, Chengdu’s government organized a series of activities to help start-ups to network, seek cooperation opportunities and attract investment. More than 6,000 pioneering enterprises have benefited from the activities, 225 of which receiving investments of about 2.7 billion yuan ($434.7 million).
