Forest marathon to start in Wenjiang

The Golden Wenjiang Half Marathon will take place in the Shou’an town in Wenjiang district, Chengdu, on Oct 18. An online registration system is now in place for the members of the public who want to attend it to sign up for.

The ThreeFinger Marathon held in Wenjiang last November gave 2,500 participants a unique experience of running on the greenway along the river and through a forest, all of which make the district an ideal marathon site.

This year, the organizers – Wenjiang’s government and sina.com.cn – decided to expand the event’s scale to 6,000 participants, which will make the game the largest half-marathon in western parts of China.

The marathon will be run in four categories, namely the men’s and women’s half marathon and 10-km run. The top three runners in each category will receive prizes varying from 1,000 to 6,000 yuan.
