Innovation competition to lure entrepreneurs

The 2017 Chengdu Medical City Innovation Competition scheduled to open from Nov 1-3 in Beijing, is expected to present Wenjiang's health industry innovation situation and attract more projects to the medical industry center.

Sponsored by Chengdu science and technology bureau and Wenjiang district government, the event will include innovation projects, signing ceremony, investment promotion and project road show. Over 300 delegations including representatives from universities, investment institutions and industry experts will join the event.

Chengdu Medical City is known as a medical industry area located in Chengdu's Wenjiang district. It occupies an area of around 37 hectares. Local authorities say Wenjiang aims to provide world-class medical services and hopefully become an international hub for the health industry.

According to Ding Ning, deputy director of Wenjiang district government, Chengdu Medical Center in Wenjiang has been focusing on promoting research and development of innovative drugs, medical equipment and modern Chinese medicine.

Official statistics show that there are currently over 600 medical enterprises located in Chengdu Medical City. In the first quarter of this year, Chengdu Medical City received a total investment of 3.24 billion yuan ($470 million).
