A weeklong culture exchange activity of Wenjiang Festival was held in Wengjiang's sister city of Halton Hills in Canada on Oct 23-28.
Known as a celebration of the collaboration between the two sides, the activity received a congratulatory letter from Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada.
As pointed out by Justin in the letter, the occasion offers a wonderful opportunity for residents of Halton Hills to experience and celebrate Chinese culture and heritages.
During the festival, exhibition of Wenjiang local residents' photography, calligraphy and paintings were open to the public.
On the evenings of Oct 26-27, delegates from Wenjiang and Halton Hills gave performances in the arts center of Halton Hills. Performances of Sichuan Opera and Chinese traditional dance were highly praised.
To strengthen and further the cooperation, Wenjiang and Halton Hills signed a sister-city agreement in 2016. Two sides agreed to carry out cooperation in tourism, culture, medical and new resources.
In September, mayor of Halton Hills Rick Bonnette led an official group and visited Wenjiang and jointly conducted a forum with Wenjiang authorities in sustainable development.
