Wenjiang celebrates Dragon Boat Festival

Huali community in Wenjiang district, Chengdu, held a variety performance and fundraising event June 15 to celebrate the upcoming Dragon Boat Festival. Officials and residents of the community participated in the event.

During the event, volunteers from the community introduced a communal micro-fund and raised 110,000 yuan ($17,070), which will be used to develop charity in the community.

People attending the event were treated to rice dumplings, the traditional food of Dragon Boat Festival, after a rice dumpling wrapping competition. They also enjoyed variety performances, including short sketches, and song and dance programs.

The event successfully strengthened neighborliness in the community and created a festive environment for the Dragon Boat Festival, which will be held on June 18.
