Cooking contest brings a taste of happiness to Wenjiang

Wenjiang district held a cooking contest in Fengxi Dadao community on October 13 that attracted 19 competitors to show their cooking skills.

The theme activity was organized by the Wenjiang district committee of social affairs and will also be held in Yongsheng town, Gongping Street, Yongxing town and Tianfu Street.

China's Double-ninth Day, a day for respecting old people, fell on October 17. A cooking contest held on that day specially highlighted the theme of "respect for the elderly" to raise public's awareness of the need for more care of the elderly.

A conference on governance of urban and rural community development was held on Oct 26 last year and the community management measures were released this July.

Communities will be well managed and improved by renovation, service improvement, cultural promotion, environmental protection and mutual assistance. The cooking contest was an activity of cultural promotion.

"We hold three contests aiming at building a harmonious and livable environment in our communities, namely a badminton contest that encourages people to exercise and enhance physique, a parent-child reading contest to raise citizens' awareness of family reading and a cooking contest to enhance family relationships," said an official of the Wenjiang district committee of social affairs.
