Wenjiang builds up culture and health industry

Chengdu's Wenjiang district has set its focus on the health industry and local Yufu culture.

Yufu culture is believed to be the source of the spirit of Wenjiang people. Located in the northwestern suburbs of Chengdu, capital of Sichuan province, Wenjiang is also called "city of Yufu" because it was the site of Yufu kingdom of ancient Shu, dating back 4,000 years.

Local people interpret the culture as a spirit of initiative and therefore explore and integrate that in their practice to build the area.

To lead the city in developing medicine and the health industry, one of the five pillar industries in Chengdu, Wenjiang has been active in attracting more major projects.

From January to September this year, Wenjiang has introduced 21 projects in cooperation with big names such as WuXiAppTec and Shanghai Jing Ze Biotech Co Ltd.

With a total investment of 15 billion yuan ($2.26 billion), Wenjiang signed a deal to build a Fenghuang cultural and tourist town to make it a national featured tourist destination for people to relax and for patients to recuperate.

According to a local official, a holiday resort featuring parks and gardens will be constructed in the northern part of the district to further facilitate the health industry.
