To build a high-quality liveable city, enlarge urban space and improve the city's image, Liucheng sub-district of Wenjiang district in Chengdu carried out special actions to demolish illegal constructions, remove walls that impede the opening of space and expand urban open areas.
By December 2018, it completed a regulation area of 9,050 square meters, increased the green area to 6,050 sq m, removed 130 meters of fence and demolished illegally built shops. Liucheng sub-district invested over 5 million yuan ($725,205) to build a delicate urban landscape and push forward the construction of a livable city.

The street actively guided the masses to take part in the demolition of illegal buildings and the cleaning up of garbage and weeds through apps, the street's official Weibo account, QQ groups, posters and announcements.
According to the principle of co-construction and sharing, Liucheng sub-district widely solicited suggestions on project planning from the community, fully embodying the citizens' will.
Based on local conditions, the green area of Liucheng sub-district will be divided into a temporary green area and permanent green area. The temporary green area will be planted with bushes and other foliage for land planning and reconstruction in order to save costs.
The permanent green area will be built as a street garden that will be equipped with seats, fitness equipment and ornamental trees, providing more green space for the local residents.
