Forum on biomedical science held in Wenjiang

The "Yin Chuang Hui" forum on the development of biomedical science took place in Wenjiang, Chengdu on Dec 13.
The event, organized by the Institute of New Economic Development, Merck China and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) China, focused on the development of biomedical science, including the innovative development of biotechnology, technological changes and innovation in the implementation of new medical reforms.
"Yin Chuang Hui" is a campaign organized by the Chengdu New Economic Enterprise Club. Its purpose is to connect domestic and overseas resources, helping new companies find potential partners and promoting their development.

During the forum, Guo Mingfei, head of Merck's Diagnostics Business in China, briefed the audience on the group's innovative development of medical diagnostics. He noted that Merck has attached great importance to the development of the entire industrial chain, from research and development to production and application, with a focus on gene editing, food safety and biotechnology.
Zhang Xiaodong, senior director of the biomedical department of HitGen Ltd's new drug R&D center, shared the latest research on solid tumor treatment, introducing a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NNRTI) STING agonist. He said that the HitGen-developed non-nucleoside small molecule compounds showed effectiveness in preventing tumors during testing.
Zhou Wei, general manager of the Sichuan Kingmed Diagnostics Center, presented on the in vitro diagnostic (IVD) approach applied in tumor diagnostics, saying that "with cold chain logistics and information technology, we are able to effectively serve Chengdu and Sichuan residents, offering results the day after taking samples."
PwC China said that it has partnered with the Institute of New Economic Development to launch a new economic innovation accelerator in Chengdu. The accelerator would offer guidance to startups involved in Chengdu's health industry, helping companies navigate the early stages of business development and facilitating the growth of Chengdu-based startups.
