From May 19 to June 2, the Economic and Social Policy Consulting Program 2008, sponsored by Ministry of Commerce and organized by DRC’s Human Resources Study and Training Center, successfully held in Beijing and Hebei Province. 44 senior government officials and researcher from 24 countries in Asia, CIS and Caribbean region participated in the program. At the five-day lectures in Beijing, leaders and senior researchers from DRC’s relevant departments delivered a series of presentations systematically introducing China’s experience in its 30 year reform, opening up and development as well as the challenges and strategies. The ESPCP participants had field study tours to the development-oriented poverty alleviation projects in Chengde City and the world’s largest coal exporting port in Qinghuangdao Harbor of Hebei Province. The success of ESPCP 2008 was well received by the participants. Donations to areas stricken by the recent earthquake were made spontaneously among the participants to show their friendly affection to the Chinese people.
