At the invitation of the Ministry of Labor and Immigration of Spain and the Ministry of Labor and Solidarity of Portugal, a DRC delegation led by DRC President Zhang Yutai visited Spain and Portugal during June 15-23, 2010. The delegation had meetings with Mr. Celestino Corbacho, Minister of Labor and Immigration of Spain, Dr. Pedrl Marques, State Secretary of Labor and Solidarity of Portugal and officials of the regulating and executing agencies of the two countries to learn about the opportunities and challenges of their social welfare systems in face of the financial crisis and aging tendency as well as countermeasures being implemented and to be adopted. The delegation also had field visits to schools, a kinder garden and a house for the elderly to have a better idea of the social services in the two countries.
