Research Report No 86, 2013

Abstract:

Amid the rapid urbanization process, the huge migrant population - consisting mainly of rural laborers - faces restrictions as migrants are unable to obtain permanent residence status in cities and are not entitled to basic public services. This report focuses on protection of the legal rights concerning freedom of movement, and also analyzes the management and service policies for the migrant population - and offers suggestions to assist with the integration of the migrant population in cities. The report also lists 10 key tasks for the improvement of policies concerning the management and services for the migrant population amid the country's urbanization process.
