Abstract:
The new urbanization should follow the "Five directions, one destination" development strategy, promulgated at the 18th CPC National Congress, which says that politics, the economy, society, culture, and ecology need to be integrated, with the same destination in regional development. The research report examines the economic base of cities along the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, in line with the country's regional development strategy after the reforms and opening up policy, and their industrial state, ecological and educational advantages, and population and urbanization features. It also follows a city group development strategy for the middle reaches, suggestions for regional coordination, and the integration of regional development and has suggestions on improving central city functions, work divisions of small, mid-sized and large cities, industrial integration and population flow, environment protection, and a new regional developing model for rapid development of the middle reaches.
